Who We Are

The Brown Bag Club was born out of legacy and love. It was the mission of founder, Ellen Alston's mother to serve and help those in need using her personal resources.

Having known what it was like to be in need, Ellen's family served the streets providing a cup of soup and sandwiches out of the back of a car.

We then expanded to offering grocery items out of a garage when others did not have enough money to feed their children. We gave sometimes even we ourselves had a need. It then expanded to initiating a food bank at our Church.

Teach your children that God is always faithful.

What We Do

The Brown Bag Club partners with food organizations to obtain and supply grocery items to prepare hot meals, bag lunches, and personal care items to the homeless populations, and families in need throughout the community. â€‹
In this manner, we are also able to offer additional aid and support to other support groups, mainly shelters, and churches in the 'Inspired Word Ministries' (IWM) group of outreaches. This allows us the ability to help support a greater number of needy families in communities to prevent homelessness and maintain dignity. We are always about the underdog.
Dr. Ellen F. Alston
We minister monthly in shelters and senior centers providing music, the Word, and food to men, women, and children. We also assist other ministries once a month providing food and service to the homeless populations.
Currently, we are serving approximately 35 individual families a month and helping to service 500 plus at homeless shelters, churches, and senior centers with food donations to facilities.

As available, we give blankets, socks, and toiletries.

In this season we have the opportunity to double or even triple our efforts from our suppliers through additional monetary gifts from those who believe in and support the cause of service to others.

Your monetary gifts and donations will help the Brown Bag Club increase our reach and bless the needy and homeless in our community. In order to expand our reach, we need an additional $300/ per month.
